Our Curriculum
Our goal at YOUR GROWING CHILD is to prepare children for the next stage of their lives through the development of motor abilities, thinking skills and healthy interactions with their peers. At YGC, we use the Zoo Phonics Curriculum, which is integrated in the student's daily activities. We also offer various enrichment and extracurricular activities for a well-rounded experience for each child.
The Essences of Zoo-phonics®
-
The Animal Alphabet helps children remember the shapes and sounds of the letters.
-
Letter sounds are taught before letter names.
-
Lowercase letters are taught before capital letters.
-
The Body Movement for each Animal Letter helps “cement” the phonemic information into memory.
-
The alphabet is taught sequentially, and as a whole entity, “a – z.” The alphabet is not fragmented.
-
Short vowels are taught before long vowels.
-
Phonemic patterns (at, bat, fat, sat, etc.) are taught first, rather than random word lists (of, it, then, was, etc.)
-
The Zoo-phonics® curriculum is fully integrated with other subjects.
Enrichment & Extracurricular Programs
Sign Language
Our teachers mold our younger children into communicators before their verbal skills take off.
Garden Works
Our use of outdoor classroom learning sets up patterns for an active & healthy lifestyle.
Sports Fun
Our children are exposed to various recreational activities to promote physical activity and social skills.
Super Soccer Stars
Our children have the option of learning soccer skills in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. The philosophy is to use soccer to nurture, to build self-confidence, and to develop teamwork in every class.
Spanish
Early language immersion is one of the best ways for children to become bilingual. Our Spanish Immersion programs are integrated into our YGC programs, so children receive both an authentic early learning education and a strong Spanish language program at the same time.
Gymnastics
Basic gymnastics such as cartwheels, handstands, forward rolls, jumps, bar skills and more. The classes develop strength and flexibility while supporting physical expression, interests, and skills.
